| The GMIC recently asked it's members (and non-members) to document their strategic concerns for the future to facilitate the development of a research portfolio to address the challenges that we identify. Here's your chance to participate in this dialogue. Please review the questionnaire below, consider your situation, and either respond to the GMIC directly (through the e-mail address provided below), or enter your comments in this forum for others to read and comment. We would ask that you go to your companys strategic thinkers and provide answers to the following: · What are the five major threats and opportunities your company will face over the next five years? Over the next ten years? · Of these, which are the burning issues those that will re-shape your industry sector? · How can collaboration that the GMIC can initiate best help you to address these burning issues? Burning issues are likely to come out of the following areas: · Environmental performance and sustainability. o Examples: regulation of CO2 emissions; application of MACT requirements. · Changing markets. o Examples: supply train streamlining; new products; uncertainty in housing market. · Energy. o Examples: escalating and fluctuating costs; uncertainties in supply; usage. · Infrastructure: o Examples: aging equipment; aging workforce. · Process performance. o Examples: refractory performance; raw materials different materials, lower prices, availability; process auxiliaries (e.g., moulds, lubricants, HVAC). Please be as specific as you can. We would appreciate your response (sent to Donna Ransom in Westerville (dransom@gmic.org). The Committee will use your input to develop a call to the research community for practical yet revolutionary solutions to promote industry growth. As is GMICs custom, no confidential information is solicited, nor will any company be specifically identified. | ||
