Comments sought on the Building Technologies Multi-Year Program Plan.

We’re asking people to respond to the DOE research priorities and technical targets discussed in the August 2005 Building Technologies Multi-Year Program Plan (http://www.eere.energy.gov/buildings/about/mypp.html). This plan reflects months of planning, tough-minded peer reviews, rigorous internal evaluations, and careful examination of key opportunities offered by external partners.

This plan is a significant step forward to reaching our Zero Energy Buildings (ZEB) goal. The path to ZEB as outlined by BT will show continuous demonstrated success, focusing on incremental steps and a series of technical targets.

Envelope work is addressed in Sub-section 3.5, pages 3-67 through 3-81. The windows work is covered in Sub-section 3.6, pages 3-81 through 3-97. (http://www.eere.energy.gov/buildings/about/pdfs/btmypresearchanddevelopment.pdf.)

Please provide your feedback and comments to Building Technologies Program by logging into the Discussion groups.

Windows R&D Roadmap update session at the AAMA's Annual Meeting on March 2, 2006.

The Building Technologies Program at the U.S. Department of Energy works in partnership with industry to develop the next generation of windows that will contribute to our goal of zero energy buildings. DOE′s R&D Planning seeks input from you, the building industry, to ensure that its R&D and technical support projects are aligned with industry. The workshop included a comprehensive overview of our technology development projects, and sought prioritization input from industry regarding our window rating and tool development activities.

On March 2, 2006, the U.S. DOE held an open session at the 69th Annual American Architectural Manufacturers Association Meeting. This meeting was open to everyone, whether or not you attended the AAMA meeting.

The key objective was to learn about DOE Window R&D technology development activities, get an update on current technology projects, and provide input to help DOE solidify priorities for future R&D support to the building industry.
A draft agenda is posted now and other supporting materials were added here before, during and after the meeting.

For your reference, we have included a link to the materials from our last Roadmap update workshop at the October 2003 AAMA meeting under the Get Materials button below. You also will see a link to the last Roadmap presentation that was made at the WDMA meeting in May 2005. You may also find that the Fact Sheets and other related information accessible from the Summary and Report button to be useful. We encourage you to add comments to the Forum before, during and after the workshop to ensure continual two-way dialogue.
